The TurboRAN testbed has commercial and open source 5G Core (5GCs)/EPCs and incorporates a Hadoop cluster for big data processing. This cluster is connected to 5GCs and EPCs, as well as access points for applying machine-learning algorithms, allowing for zero-touch automation and proactive self-organizing network functionalities. High-capacity optical fiber cables connect the cells to the 5GCs/EPCs and large data processing cluster, allowing for data rates of up to 10 Gbps.
Read MoreTurboRAN features the Amarisoft Callbox base stations supporting a variety of 3GPP compliant networks configurations, including 5G Standalone (SA), 5G Non-Standalone (NSA), LTE, and NB-IoT -release 14 and 15, respectively. It supports both Time Division Duplex (TDD) and Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) modes of transmission, carrier aggregation as well as 4x4 MIMO, with a supported frequency band of 500 MHz to 6 GHz, and a maximum downlink and uplink throughput 1200 Mbps and 150 Mbps, respectively. The antennas support remote antenna tilt configuration and the BSs support for up to 1000 active UEs distributed within one cell.
Read MoreTurboRAN network entities use a combination of commercial LTE protocol stacks to enable testing of state-of-the-art Zero Touch Automation solutions, and open source LTE protocol stacks to enable development of solutions for future cellular networks.
Read MoreTurboRAN features an inhouse developed mobile application, web interface and data storage for real-time logging, viewing and storage of data. Various key performance indicators and network parameters including RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, timing advance, cell id, user location, user device id, data collection time etc are logged and stored. This data can be fetched real-time from the database for processing and utilization in data-driven Zero Touch Automation solutions.
Read MoreTurboRAN is an online closed loop automation enabled testbed, integrated with a Hadoop cluster for big data processing, enabling research on a host of applications for future mobile cellular networks and testing and validation of state-of-the-art Zero Touch Automation solutions, and open-source LTE protocol stacks to enable development of proactive self-optimization and self-healing algorithms for future cellular networks.
Read MoreTurboRAN 5G testbed is part of AI4Networks Research Center which is devoted to research on a variety of topics related to Zero Touch Automation solutions for mobile cellular networks.
